Mark T. Sliwka’s practice at McHale & Slavin focuses on patent prosecution, where he helps clients navigate the complexities of intellectual property law to protect their ideas and innovations. His recent education highlights his dedication to cutting-edge technological advancements.  As a registered patent attorney, Mark brings a unique blend of technical expertise and legal acumen to the law firm.

Mark earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (2019), and  a Masters Degree  (2020) from Northern Illinois University.  His graduate research focused on metallurgy and advanced manufacturing techniques.   Mark focused on 3D printing metals using directed energy deposition and his published thesis is entitled, “In-Situ Optoelectronic Powder Flow Measurement Analysis for Directed Energy Deposition Applications.”   Mark earned his Juris Doctor law degree from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2023, focusing on intellectual property law. 

Prior to joining McHale & Slavin, Mark gained invaluable industry experience as a patent management intern at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL.

Having passed the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) patent agent exam, Mark is registered to practice before the USPTO.

In his free time, Mark supports the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach.   Mark is also an avid sports car enthusiast with a deep appreciation for engineering design and performance.  His passion for automotive innovation includes being an active member of the Formula SEA team.
