William A. Cuchlinski joined McHale | Slavin after 35 years with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). Mr. Cuchlinski writes and prosecutes various patent applications for mechanical, electrical and business methods’ inventions.

Mr. Cuchlinski’s expertise as a USPTO Examiner and Primary Examiner included various areas of chemical engineering (e.g., separating and assorting solids, liquid purification, gas separation, gas and liquid contact devices, foods and food packaging), internal combustion engines, power plants, fluid handling systems, and illumination devices. As a Supervisory Primary Examiner, Mr. Cuchlinski and his staff were responsible for examining patent applications in geometric instruments, thermal measuring and testing devices, joint seals, signals and indicators, computerized vehicle operations and navigation, computers and digital processing systems, computerized robotics and business methods. During his USPTO career, Mr. Cuchlinski was selected for and served on a number of various special assignments including instructing at the United States Patent and Trademark Training Academy, a detail to the Office of Petitions, a detail to coordinate patent examiner hiring for the United States Patent & Trademark Office, and membership on various policy and planning committees. He also served as a frequent instructor for New Managers Seminars. Mr. Cuchlinski received the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal Award for patent examination and supervisory accomplishments.

Mr. Cuchlinski is currently active in his church, serving on the ministry leadership council, and is a member of the South Florida chapter of SOFASST, a car club for Impala Super Sport enthusiasts.
